Human-Centred Transformation with Helen Boyle and Kath Smythe

Helen Boyle

Change is rarely straightforward. Leaders are navigating financial pressures, workforce challenges, increasing scrutiny and competing priorities, often all at the same time.

As a transformation leader, I help organisations find a practical route through complexity. Alongside Kath Smythe, I combine strategic and operational leadership with workforce insight, coaching-led approaches and behavioural expertise to deliver change that people believe in and sustain.

If I'm the Navigator, Kath is the Stargazer.

While I focus on helping organisations chart a course and turn ambition into action, Kath helps leaders and teams step back, think differently and explore new possibilities. Together, we create the conditions for meaningful change that is both ambitious and achievable.

Together we help organisations…

  • Deliver complex transformation programmes that achieve lasting results

  • Build leadership confidence and capability at every level

  • Equip middle managers to lead through change and uncertainty

  • Create learning cultures where people thrive and perform at their best

  • Engage the workforce in co-designing solutions that build ownership and trust

  • Develop practical, people-centred approaches that improve both organisational performance and workforce wellbeing

Our work is grounded in a shared belief that the workforce should be at the heart of transformation. We help leaders move beyond imposing change to creating the conditions where people can contribute, learn and succeed together.

By combining strategic leadership, operational realism, behavioural understanding and coaching-led development, we help organisations create change that is both ambitious and achievable.

Holding the Rhythm for Meaningful Change

Kath is an experienced public sector transformation specialist who helps councils, public services and complex systems create the conditions where people, culture and performance can thrive together. She believes that sustainable change only happens when people feel safe, empowered and connected to a shared purpose.

Drawing on a lifelong career in public service, Kath combines behavioural insight, systems thinking and practical delivery expertise to help organisations move beyond surface-level transformation. She works alongside leaders and teams to think differently, work differently and lead differently, bringing clarity, courage and humanity to complex change.

Kath understands the pressures faced by public sector leaders - balancing competing priorities while trying to translate strategy into meaningful action. Her passion for understanding human behaviour underpins her deeply human-centred approach, helping organisations build cultures where people can thrive, learn and contribute meaningfully.

Her areas of expertise include human-centred transformation, culture and behaviour change, workforce and leadership transformation, strategic facilitation and partnership working, and the development of learning cultures that embed continuous improvement into everyday practice.

Kath describes herself as the bass player in a band - the person who holds the rhythm, creates connection and builds momentum so that others can perform at their best. She works quietly but powerfully, creating psychologically safe spaces, asking insightful questions and helping people join the dots across systems, services and priorities.

By creating environments where people can think clearly, have courageous conversations and move forward with confidence, Kath helps organisations find the right rhythm for change and sustain it over time.
